Canon is a month old and he is currently weighing in at a whopping 14 pounds.

Everyone has been good about the adjustment. Broden was my biggest concern but he really loves his brother, sometimes a little too much. We all love holding Canon and fight about it a lot. I feel a little silly when I have to tell the kids, "You better stop fighting over Canon or I will put him away in his bed." Like he's a toy or something.

Canon has been smiling lately but only at his mom, I love it! John is a little jealous and tries really hard to obtain the same results as I, but no luck. I know eventually he will realize how fun dad is and I will be nothing but his lunch.

Canon also sleeps. In the first two weeks we had a little rough ride with our sleeping arrangements, but he has come to realize mom needs sleep. Canon usually wakes up for one feeding in the night, and sometimes even manages to sneak in a few 6 hour stretches. This kid loves me!

Everything is going well for us. I am doing better than I expected. John would prefer if I took it a little easier than I do, but that's just not the Cuthbertson in me.

My two bits of advice

1. Don't go to Target, Smiths, Costco or to get the mail with all five kids. There is always a melt down or a comment from another customer about my "braveness to be in public with that many kids." They're always surprised when they learn I don't run a daycare and they are all mine. It's like the first time they heard about Michael Jackson's passing. WHAT?!?! WOW!!!

2. Make sure everyone is potty'd and changed before you load the car. Next time I will take a picture of all six of us in one stall, it is possible and comical.

Sometimes it helps to face things with humor...actually, it always helps.
