Thanksgiving and Being Grateful

Ahh… Thanksgiving. I am feeling full both spiritually and physically.

My sister had food for days and it was delicious. I did not lift a finger when it came to food and I am so glad. I enjoyed my Thanksgiving feast.

John and I sat down with the kids and talked about all the things they had that not ALL children had. We started with things like Wii, Legos, bikes, skateboard to things like a church, loving parents, brothers and sister, and so on. The list ended with over 100 different things. Through out the month more things would come to mind and we would add them to the list.

We pointed out that all these things were blessings in our lives. Jax said, “Well that’s everything we own.”

I know there was a valuable lesson that we all learned, it seemed so basic but it really opened my eyes to how much we have. My kids found a lot of excitement to point out the things they had as a blessing in their life. A lot of discussion came from this little activity. I think the hardest thing for my kids to understand was that not everyone had a home with loving parents or church.

I have found a lot of gratitude in my role as a mother. I have been studying “Teaching No Greater Call” and thinking a lot about being a mother. I can’t imagine  taking on the responsibility without the companionship of the Holy Ghost. I have a loving Father in Heaven, a Savior, and a companionship with the Holy Ghost. I am extremely blessed!!
