Happy Engagement!!

One of the famous engagement photos above!
Journals are a fabulous thing. I recently was looking at the beginning feelings I had for John and hilarious is a good word to describe it all. Things like:

"This guy is a little goofy but I like it."

"I don't get half his jokes, I wonder if he notices."

"I hope we have one good engagement photo after all his goofing around."

"John is always pinching my bum."

"Some girl brought John cream puffs with a little flirtatious note. I'm thinking she doesn't know we are engaged."

"John going to the temple today, brought good news, he wants to marry me."

I can't believe that with all my years of faithful journal writing, I did not write the feelings of the day we got engaged. I do remember it quite well though. The birds were singing, a nice cool breeze was blowing my hair, he came riding in on his horse and.... Actually that isn't what happened at all. It was ,again, hilarious, he picked me up and drove 2 hours to the perfect knee squatting place, and asked for my hand in marriage, this took 2 minutes. We then got back in the car and drove 2 hours back home to show off the ring.

My husband is seriously the cutest thing ever. I know he wanted it to be perfect and it was. I think of all the laughter we have had through the years and I wouldn't want it any other way. I still think he is the funniest guy ever, now that I get his jokes. I think a happy marriage is a successful marriage.

I love you John, your the coolest;)!!

Okay Kathy, I am sorry I never replied to your thoughtful HELLO! Thanks for finding us, we live just north of Tucson in Marana, AZ and I never thought I would like it down here, but I really do. We are in a VERY young ward (75+ nursery kids) and over 100 in the primary. We are doing great and keeping busy.
I LOVE your education blog. I started a Joy School Group (valuesparenting.com) Well I just had my turn and I wish I could keep having it be my turn. I love visual aids and just watching the kids learn and grow. My sister has 4 kids (8,6,4,and 2) and she does home school. I never thought I would even consider it...but sometimes I DO!
I was looking at your schedule and what you do with the kids and I wish I could pick your brain. Wesly will not be in kinder. for 2 more years, but he is already reading small words and I wish I knew everything and how to teach him! :) (I LOVE STARFALL and letter factory!!)
Anyhow, just thought I'd say keep up the awesome work and I will be visiting your blog often!
-Kati

I think I vaguely remember getting that announcement picture! (Back before the fog of children wrecked my brain. . .) Happy engagement anniversary! From what I can tell from pictures you guys look exactly the same. (Not balding and going gray like Ryan and I!)

That is prob what I remember best about John he was hilarious and his voices (like he could mimic people not that he's delusional:). So glad he married someone who can fully appreciate it. Happy engagement day!

Ah, you love birds make me sick! Just kidding that was such a cute post. I too agree that what good is a marriage if you can't have fun? Humor is one of the things I LOVE about my hubby. Remember, your sis, Mary, even thinks he's hillarious :-). We are able to share and laugh and help eachother laugh at situations that might otherwise make us cry! Love it, you are a cute couple. Aub
